Verbena bonariensis is one of my favourite flowering plants in the garden, it starts flowering in early spring and keeps going until autumn, self seeding and producing new baby plants again for next year. It looks stunning in coastal gardens alongside swishy long ornamental grasses.

The fabric has been printed in the UK with my original Fennel and Sparrow design, this fabric matches my Fennel mugs which were designed way back in 2014.

My designs are inspired by living in Cornwall, walking along the coastline and the unique Cornish hedgerows, foraging for season treats, fishing and growing fruit and veg.

In my old house I had a large Fennel bush in the garden, and sparrows used to perch on the frondy branches to pick off the insects attracted by the aniseed scented yellow flowers, and the seeds in autumn once the Fennel had finishing flowering.

These teasel heads are beautiful on a cold crisp autumn morning, and I have tried to evoke their natural beauty through a few simple strokes.
